What formats can I convert to and from?
You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG images and save them as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or BMP. Animated GIFs are converted from their first frame, and SVGs at the size saved in the file. For iPhone HEIC photos, use the HEIC to JPG tool.
What happens to transparency when I convert PNG to JPG?
JPG has no transparency channel, so ImageSpark fills transparent areas with your chosen background colour (white by default) before saving. That keeps logos and cut-out product shots looking clean instead of turning the background black. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead, since both formats support a transparent background.
Does converting PNG to JPG lower the quality?
Slightly. JPG is a lossy format, so some fine detail is discarded, but ImageSpark saves at a high quality setting, which is visually very close to the original for photos. Sharp text, line art and screenshots may show faint artifacts in JPG; for those, WebP or PNG usually looks crisper at a similar or smaller size.
Is WebP better than JPG and PNG?
For websites, usually yes. WebP files are typically smaller than JPG at similar quality and also support transparency like PNG. The trade-off is compatibility: some older desktop programs, email clients and upload forms still expect JPG or PNG. Use WebP for the web and JPG or PNG when you're unsure what the recipient supports.
