Convert JPG to PNG

Some design apps, marketplaces and upload forms insist on PNG. ImageSpark turns your JPG into a PNG in your browser, and from then on every pixel is stored exactly, so further edits won't add compression. Nothing is uploaded and there's no watermark.

Your image is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. Many online editors send your photo to their servers and delete it later — this one never receives it at all.

Why use JPG to PNG

  • Input: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF (first frame), BMP and SVG
  • Output: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or BMP, in any modern browser
  • Choose a background colour for transparent areas in JPG and BMP output
  • Processed locally — no upload, no waiting in a queue
  • Keeps the original pixel dimensions
  • Pro: convert up to 100 images in one batch

Popular uses

  • Turning WebP images saved from the web into JPGs that any app can open
  • Converting screenshots from PNG to smaller JPGs for sharing
  • Saving AVIF files as PNG for editing software that can't read AVIF
  • Preparing WebP versions of site images for faster page loads

JPG to PNG: frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG stores the picture losslessly from now on, so editing and re-saving it won't add new compression artifacts, but it can't restore detail the JPG has already lost.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

No — a JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same background. To cut out the subject and get a transparent background, use Remove Background.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

PNG is lossless, and photos contain lots of fine detail, so a photo saved as PNG is often several times larger than the JPG. Use PNG when you need lossless editing, and JPG or WebP for sharing.

Can I convert several images at once?

Yes, with Pro or Lifetime: add up to 100 images and convert them in one batch. On the free plan you can convert one at a time, 5 times a day, with no account.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your browser does the conversion on your device, so your photos stay private.
