Crop an Image to a Square
Profile pictures, Instagram grids and many shop listings look best as perfect squares. The 1:1 ratio is already locked, so drag the box over your subject and resize it from any handle; it stays square. The photo is cropped in your browser and never uploaded.
Your image is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. Many online editors send your photo to their servers and delete it later — this one never receives it at all.

Crop Image to Square: frequently asked questions
How do I make a picture square without cutting off my subject?
Drag the square over the part you want to keep and resize it until your subject fits. If the square has to show the whole photo, use Resize Image with Fit with borders instead, which adds a background around it.
What size should a square Instagram post be?
1080 × 1080 pixels. Crop to square here, then use Resize Image's Instagram post preset if you want exactly that size.
Will cropping reduce quality?
No. Cropping keeps a rectangle of the original pixels without scaling them, and the result is saved in the original format.
Can I crop to a circle instead?
Yes. For round avatars and logos, use Circle Crop, which saves a PNG with transparent corners.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Cropping happens in your browser, on your own device.
