Make a Passport-Size Photo at Home

Frame a portrait to the exact passport or visa dimensions for several countries, with a head-position guide, and export a print-ready 300 DPI JPG. The photo is processed in your browser, so your face and ID picture are never uploaded.

Your image is processed by your own browser and never uploaded. Many online editors send your photo to their servers and delete it later — this one never receives it at all.

Passport Photo: frequently asked questions

What size is a US passport photo?

A US passport photo is 2 by 2 inches, which ImageSpark exports at about 600 by 600 pixels for 300 DPI printing. The head should take up roughly half to two-thirds of the image height, and the background should be plain white or off-white. Always confirm the current rules on the official State Department website.

Will my passport photo be accepted?

ImageSpark sets the correct dimensions, but acceptance also depends on lighting, expression, head position, glasses and background, which only you and the issuing office can judge. Take the photo in even light, facing the camera with a neutral expression, and check your country's official requirements before you print or submit it.

Can I make the background white?

This tool doesn't change the background; it crops and sizes the photo you give it. The easiest approach is to take the picture against a plain white or light wall. You can also run the photo through Remove Background first, download the white-background version, and use that here.

How do I print a passport photo at the right size?

The image has the right number of pixels for 300 DPI, but some apps ignore that, so set the print size explicitly: choose 2 by 2 inches, or 35 by 45 mm, in your print dialog or photo-lab order rather than fit-to-page. Measure the first print with a ruler before printing more copies.

Which countries are supported?

The presets cover US passports at 2 by 2 inches, the UK, EU and Schengen countries, India and Australia at 35 by 45 mm, China at 33 by 48 mm and Canada at 50 by 70 mm. Many other countries also use 35 by 45 mm. Requirements change occasionally, so check the official specifications.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The crop and resize happen in your browser on your own device, so your face, and anything else in the picture, is never sent to ImageSpark or a third-party service. For a document as sensitive as a passport photo, that's the main reason to make it here rather than on an upload-based site.
